Soon after moving to Ruth's house in Leicester, England, I discovered the amazing distorted forms created in a window of the house. Like most of my work, these are straight photographs depicting the scene exactly as I saw it. The refraction and reflection of light through the windows was dramatically changed by the slightest move, each bending of the light waves creating infinite possibilities of colour, shape and texture. The effect reminds me of wet-on-wet watercolour effects. Since the subject is two-dimensional, the main challenge when making photographs like these is to create the strongest possible compositions purely through the process of framing.
